First 2012 work and end of 2011 dump

Here are the first works of 2012. I'm working on things I am mostly unfamiliar with like mechanical parts and armours and even some texture work ;o

All the following were created last year and I never got around to sharing. There's some doodles, commissions, fan art...a little mix of everything. Some are more finished and just better than others but I like each of them for different reasons:)

Clint Eastwood - He's the Man

I'd fallen out with painting a bit recently so what better way to try and get back in the swing of it than painting your favourite things? Still got a couple of hours of fun left with this guy (especially his hands, gotta sort dem fingers) but I thought I'd let y'all know I'm still alive. Might do a huge sketch dump next time. I've got to get out of the habit of only showing finished/nearly finished work. Especially seeing as my favourite things to look at on other people's blogs are their sketches :D Oh! I also have some steps to post, hurrah!

Brand Spanking New Tablet!

Finally got my hands on an Inutos4! My poor Graphire4 was starting to wear out after 4 years of faithful service :( Christened it with a few needed modifications to an old Clint picture. I went for the A5 seeing as the A4 looked way to big to be carrying around the place. It's actually a lot bigger than I expected because it is a widescreen tablet which is brilliant! The pen is very comfortable to work with and has a kind of...authentic feel when moved across the tablet, kinda like pen on paper y'know? I have heard that the nibs tend to run down quick enough so I'm being pretty careful with how much pressure I'm using. So far it's a lovely piece of equipment and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to update their tablet. 

Have a few studies on the go at the moment that I will post next time :)

Self-Portrait

Quick self-portrait before bed. And by quick I mean around 2 hours lol. I've only done two in the past (one as a highschool assignment and one that was a doodle that turned out baaad) so I wanted to see what I could do. And because all the cool kids are doing 'em of course.

I stayed at the most amazing place last weekend. My dad would have loved to see it so I painted the view for him seeing as it was his birthday and I needed the practice ;)

This is a doodle I am very fond of. I always come back to it if I don't have any ideas for a new image and then play with it until I do. Hopefully in the end it will turn into a nice complete image in it's own right(:
